Tokyo Game Market Fall 2026 Preview
I have previously written a preparation guide to attending Tokyo Game Market. This is a preview of the games that I find interesting. This is definitely not a comprehensive guide to all of the games at TGM. That would be impossible. There are nearly 1000 vendors at TGM. My gaming tastes focus more on quick…
Taiwan Original Boardgame Expo (2026) Preview
I am trying to do a little preview on some of the publishers that will be at the Taiwan Original Boardgame Expo (Sept 25th-27th). Taiwan Boardgame Design has done several preview gamedays in Taipei but I haven’t been able to attend since I live in Kaohsiung. I am not even sure if all of these…

Tokyo Game Market Preview Fall 2024
Tokyo Game Market is the largest board game convention in Asia and one of the most unique conventions in the world. The most unique aspect of Tokyo Game Market is that it is mostly tiny publishers and it is common for the games to be printed in very small (<500 copies) print runs for one…
Board Game Mechanics – Simultaneous Play
Is Simultaneous Play the Perfect Solution for Boardgames? A few weeks ago the Board Game Design Lab FB group polled its members on Simultaneous Play vs Turn play for roll and write games. The poll was overwhelming in favor of Simultaneous Play but a few members pointed out drawbacks of using simultaneous play in board…
